Barton 101 Next Thursday

Thursday, October 27 (6:30-8 PM)

The Leadership Council would like to invite you to a great event, an evening of learning about “progressive education” and Barton “Open” School. We want everyone to develop a better understanding of what makes our school unique and wonderful!! It is important for us as parents to understand the philosophy behind open education. We will have brief remarks from our principal and then an opportunity to be in small groups with other parents for a facilitated discussion.

Please come to our first Barton 101 event. This will be a parent and teacher led event that is geared towards parents not children!!

MARK YOUR CALENDAR for OCTOBER 27 6:30-8:00 PM Childcare will be available. You must RSVP to the office at 668-3580 if you need childcare. We will not be able to accept children who have not been signed up.

If you have any questions regarding this event please feel free to contact Andrea Breen – 822-3226 or Julie Ristau – 824-7661

Community Forum with Area C Associate Superintendent Craig Hintz.

Tuesday October 25
7 PM

As part of recent restructuring within the district, each part of the city now has its own Associate Superintendent.  Southwest Area C of Minneapolis Public Schools will conduct a Community Forum on Tuesday, October 25, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Barton commons. The forum will provide an opportunity for patrons to learn more about initiatives in Area C schools and an opportunity to dialog with Associate Superintendent Dr. Craig Hintz and other school administrators in attendance.

Dr. Hintz has met with the Barton Leadership Council at one of its regular meetings recently.  The Council urges all interested partents to attend this forum, which will also draw parents from other schools in Area C.

Here's a profile of Dr. Hintz from the Southwest Journal.
