Each adult in a Barton household has nine votes to endorse parent members for participation on next year's Leadership Council. Your child should have brought home a ballot with last week's Bugle, or you can print one from the links below. Please return the ballot to your child's teacher by Thursday, May 29.

Last week's camping trip to Baker Park for Kristen, Dawn, and Christina's classrooms was a great success. Here are comments from student teacher, Erin.
More photos are available at: http://www.kinneavy.com/room102/2007_2008/index.html"Camp was fabulous! I had such a great time and I know the kids did, too. Thank you so much, parents, for all that you did in making camp such a success. I had many parents asking me over the two days if I would ever consider taking first and second graders camping in the future. My response to them was “Of course! So long as the parents were as great as Barton parents.” It was truly amazing to see the children out in nature."

Fellow parents,
Please consider joining us for an Area C meeting on May 8 at Windom Dual Spanish Immersion School. We will have presentations on gang awareness and bus/transportation issues. Our speaker is William Vominguez, who is from El Salvador and was a gang member himself, and comes highly recommended from La Oportunidad, one of the MPS Community Partners. In an attempt to provide more outreach to our Latino families, he will be doing the presentation in Spanish with interpretation services provided to our English speaking parents. The bus portion of the agenda, including safety and concerns about drivers, will be conducted in English by Roy Hallenger. Marianne Norris, our Area C Superintendent, is available at the end of the program for Q & A regarding general district issues.
Interpretation services for Somali and Hmong are also provided, as well as bilingual child care.
