Barton FUNdraisers 2018



Social gatherings that Barton community members host in their homes and elsewhere. Tickets are sold and all the proceeds from the tickets raise money for Barton Open School-a great way to help support the school financially and for people to get together and                                                                    have some fun.

K/1/2 families - this FUNdraiser is just for us! We believe that if we all work together, we can raise $2,000 to support the Barton Foundation while building our Barton Community. We would love to see every K/1/2 student join in the fun. Your donation buys your WHOLE family a night dancing and dessert. 
Tunes will be spinning from 6:30 to 8:00. Let's rally together to show Barton that their youngest students may seem tiny, but they are mighty big when it comes to school spirit, dancing, and fundraising!

Come together with other Barton families in a mini-maker space with both free creation and build “challenges” like balloon cars, zip lines, etc. We'll have delicious picnic food friendly to dietary needs (vegetarian, pork-free, and gluten free options), and there will be opportunities to get artsy with face painting and live music. Create, invent, engineer, enjoy!

Get out of the city and enjoy an afternoon on the farm! We’d love to have you join us for some outdoor fun! We will have family games, hikes in the woods and plenty of room for kids to just play at our family farm in Chaska, MN (35 min. drive from Barton). Swing from the 300 year old oak tree, play bean bag toss or ladder ball on the hill, play board games in the “party barn”, dance party in the hayloft, go on hikes in the woods, look for frogs down by the creek or sit on the deck and make new Barton friends. There is fun for all ages!
We will provide snacks and drinks for the afternoon.
 
If anyone would like to come early (11:00 am -1:00 pm), feel free to join us and bring along your own picnic lunch.

Last year's hike in the Roberts Bird Sanctuary was so popular, we decided to do something similar this year! Please join us to celebrate the 110th season of the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden in Theodore Wirth Park on Saturday, June 9 from 4-7PM. We will have a guided family-friendly hike by a local naturalist and then enjoy a picnic on/near Wirth Beach afterward. Vegetarian options will be available and other food allergies will be honored as long as we know ahead of time. Please join us for a laid back and fun early evening, featuring one of Minneapolis's most special parks. We hope to also have some special musical guests.

You can relax and stare at the giant screen of music videos if you prefer not to rock the casbah. I promise you'll feel back to life. Starts at 9:00, so wake me up before you go. Join us for a backyard viewing of the film Like Water for Chocolate, paired with a meal inspired by the film. We’ll start with Chiles en Nogada (Poblanos chiles stuffed with pork), followed by Champandongo (layers of corn tortillas with beef, mole sauce and queso fresco). The film follows the tale of Tita and the impact her love and heartbreak has on the food she prepares for her family. We make no promises that you will be crying tears of joy following the meal… but we hope that by joining in community for Barton, will swell your heart with joy.

This FUNdraiser is being offered 2 different dates. Each date is the same FUNdraiser. You will have the opportunity to sample each drink and learn the basic techniques of mixing craft cocktails based on the recipes and techniques popularized by Dale Degroff. You will leave with a list of ingredients and tools you need to stock your home craft cocktail bar. For the very brave we will close the evening with a pickleback.

You won't want to miss sampling all these drinks so please plan to Uber or make other arrange for a safe ride home.

  Seize the Night Cross-Country Ski

Inspired by the late February snow of 2018, this late breaking FUNdraiser is for those who find the freshly falling snow too exciting to call it a night. You will wait for notification of the rare night when the conditions are just right to ski 2 blocks down Columbus Ave, then we will hop on Minnehaha Creek (or beside) and head east for a bit. We'll ski for an hour or so, then pop inside for wine, hot coco or tea. Bring your own skis.
